Remarkably, Blatter says the prospect of a return to Fifa after his suspension expires in 2027 is “possible”. “I have never been dismissed in Fifa,” he said. “When I was suspended by the [Fifa ethics committee, I gave my mandate to somebody else. But I still have the mandate. I am still the elected president.” As he ponders leadership elections in two years’ time, there is a brief reality check – he will be turning 91. “I hope [I am] still alive.”]
